THE BEGINNING OF THE ROAD

The Al Bunnia Company started off as a trading business, and was set up in 1910 during the Ottoman Empire by Haj Mahmood Jassim Al Bunnia. Initial business included bartering of seeds, dates, beans, fruits, and wool. The business flourished and led to more commodities being traded with the Middle East laying the foundation of the Al Bunnia Empire.

1950

HMBS ESTABLISHEMENT

By 1950 operations had expanded significantly for the founder to form H. Mahmood J. Al Bunnia & Sons (HMBS) to keep up with market conditions. The business mainly made headway into food stuff manufacturing and expanded its trade with Europe and the United States.

A FAMILY ENTERPRISE

In the 1950s, the management extended to include his three sons:

  • Abdul Wahab Mahmood Al Bunnia
  • Sa’doon Mahmood Al Bunnia
  • Abdul Latif Mahmood Al Bunnia
